Job Summary:

The X-Ray Technologist operates or oversees the operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Responsible for preparing patients for radiological procedures and adhering to safety measures to ensure compliance with regulations and the safety of patients and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others to understand service needs; reduce anxieties by providing explanations of treatment and answering questions.
• Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into specified positions while adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, and patient shielding; adhere to infection control policies.
• Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; process radiographs, observe results, and make necessary adjustments.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, including completing and verifying exams.
• Ensure the operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, and maintaining equipment inventories.
• Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, and maintaining a safe, clean working environment.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by fulfilling regulatory CME requirements, attending educational workshops, and participating in professional societies.
• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Complete yearly age-specific competency assessments.
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

• 2+ years of experience required.
• New York State Dept. of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist.
• Competency in performing diagnostic procedures.
• Excellent communication skills in a team environment.
• Quality focus, planning abilities, and dependability.
• Ability to create a safe and effective environment.

Education:

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Minimum Licensing Requirements: New York State License (L.R.T), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified).

Schedule Notes: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4 PM.
