About The Function:

Location: Delaware County

Overview:

Our family owned client ahs asked us to help identify their next detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee financial operations, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in financial statement preparation, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, tax filings, cash flow monitoring, and other essential financial functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Statements & Close Process:

  • Prepare monthly interim financial statements using Microsoft GP.
  • Perform year-end close procedures.
  • Provide all files and reconciliations to external auditors for the fiscal year-end audit.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, apply finance charges, and upload all month-end reports and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Post all journal entries and prepare account reconciliations.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Apply all cash receipts daily, including checks, credit cards, ACH, and wires using specialized software.
  • Serve as backup for daily billing.
  • Manage collections, including turning over non-paying accounts for legal action.
  • Collaborate with customers and sales teams to reconcile accounts and facilitate collections.
  • Serve as the point of contact for credit card processing and PCI compliance.

Accounts Payable & Payroll:

  • Review weekly AP journal entries.
  • Review weekly payroll and provide backup for payroll processing.

Cash Flow & Financial Planning:

  • Monitor company cash flow and credit line balances.
  • Calculate monthly and quarterly sales commissions.
  • Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns for multiple states.

Banking & Financial Reporting:

  • Provide monthly interim financial statements to the bank.
  • Prepare weekly borrowing base calculations with AR roll forward.
  • Develop annual financial forecasts, including bank covenant forecasts.
  • Generate monthly statements of cash flows and covenant calculations.
  • Respond to financial information requests from external bank auditors.

Insurance & Compliance:

  • Oversee annual bidding for multiple business insurance policies and complete applications.

Human Resources Support:

  • Review annual health and dental insurance proposals.
  • Act as a contact person for employee benefits and HR issues.
  • Address unemployment compensation claims.

Retirement Plans & Tax Compliance:

  • Provide year-end calculations for 401(k) match, safe harbor, and profit-sharing contributions.
  • Upload weekly reports for 401(k) withholdings and process ACH transfers.
  • Evaluate employee distribution applications and monitor compliance filings.
  • Maintain records for corporate tax preparation, including estimated and extension payments.

Lease & Asset Management:

  • Manage accounting for all equipment leases using specialized lease accounting software.
  • Maintain equipment financing records.

Fleet & Transportation Compliance:

  • Oversee vehicle registrations, title work, and required compliance filings.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional financial and administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management or accounting roles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft GP, Excel, and financial software.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
