Overview:
The Opportunity
The School Van Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and various school-related activities. This role requires a commitment to ensuring a safe and positive environment for students while adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.This position is part-time.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transportation:
- Safely drive students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and other designated locations.
- Follow designated routes and schedules, adjusting as necessary for traffic or weather conditions.
- Ensure timely arrival and departure from school and activity locations.
- Safety:
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the van is in good working order.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized van, ensuring all safety equipment is operational and accessible.
- Assist students in boarding and disembarking the van safely.
Student Interaction:
- Provide a positive and supportive environment for students, addressing any issues or concerns in a calm and professional manner.
- Supervise students during transportation to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Report any behavioral issues or incidents to school authorities as needed.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and transportation coordinators regarding schedules, delays, and any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and any maintenance or repairs needed for the vehicle.
Administrative Duties:
- Complete and submit all required paperwork, including incident reports, vehicle inspection logs, and any other documentation as requested.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
Qualifications:
The Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience driving a van or similar vehicle, particularly in a school or childcare setting, is a plus.
Licensing & Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
