The AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) Shared Services and Business Operations, Strategy and Planning team is seeking an innovative and talented Workforce Operations Analyst to play a critical role on our Workforce Operations Programs team. This team serves as an essential point of coordination between the sales teams, finance teams, and operations organizations.

The team’s analysis plays an important role as we work to ensure our workforce is operating at full capacity and is taking proactive action to ensure we stay aligned to monthly headcount plans and attainment.

Data analysis is at the core of Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on workforce decision-making and strategy for our organization. Close partnership with leaders and organizations outside of your immediate team will be necessary, as you will compile data and present information that will influence decisions across our teams.

The ideal candidate will have excellent business and data analysis skills, workforce and position management skills, strong business acumen and judgement (preferably in a global sales environment), intense curiosity, and effective written and verbal communication skills, along with a passion for customer service and pursuing operational excellence.

Key job responsibilities
  • Leverage deep knowledge of headcount and position management, workforce optimization and workforce planning methodologies, data, and best practices. Applies these skills and experience to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify.
  • Works directly with senior leaders in the business, partnering with Finance, HR and leadership to deploy and manage headcount plans; drive hiring velocity and attainment to ensure teams operate at full capacity at all times.
  • Earns trust with internal stakeholders and customers, and develops collaborative solutions that create measurable impact on team success.
  • Drive large-scale workforce management workstreams that solve significantly complex or endemic problems.
  • Consistently bring strong, data-driven business and technical judgment to decisions.
  • Advocate for and drive workforce programs.
  • Influence and consult with teams on position management and hiring guidelines and processes
  • Effectively write documents on headcount and position management process and change management
  • Capture the right metrics to influence stakeholders and measure success.
  • Occasional travel to meetings and workshops to drive process adoption

About Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, Accounting or related discipline
  • 5+ years of business analysis, business operations, sales operations supporting a global sales customer base
  • 5+ years of headcount and position management, global workforce management, workforce planning, and/or people analytics
  • 5+ years of advanced experience with Excel and 3+ years of hands-on design and development experience with SQL, Tableau, Python or other relevant query language and data visualization software
  • Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them (verbal/written) to the stakeholders and senior management as required- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Sales or related discipline
  • Exhibits sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership and leading data-driven analyses
  • Self-motivated, committed to getting things done, multi-tasker with a great sense of urgency and follow-through
  • Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or less than clean data and be able to operate successfully in a lean, fast-paced organization that can scale quickly
  • Experience conducting large scale data analysis to support business decision making
  • Advanced presentation skills and the ability to guide and influence senior leadership
  • Experience using SQL and advanced data mining techniques, and experience with Tableau to create dashboards and interactive reports
