DOT Onboarding Specialist

Our Driver Compliance Team is searching for a DOT Compliance Onboarding Specialist to work with Tesla drivers to ensure they comply with all local, federal state laws and regulations and company policies.

They will work closely with the DOT Compliance manager and be responsible for complete DOT regulated driver onboarding program. This includes a variety of functions from pre-employment assessments (driver qualification files and MVRs), launching pilot programs and new hire onboarding.

  • Review current procedures regularly with DOT Compliance Manager to identify potential compliance gaps and pro-actively work towards solutions to streamline procedures/processes for efficiencies. Assist in developing, producing, and maintaining relevant DOT training content for drivers
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact internally/externally for all regulated drivers and vehicles on DOT related matters and/or transportation compliance
  • Play a key role in managing onboarding, the pre-employment assessment process and adhoc requests from internal and external compliance teams. Manage and enforce onboarding requirements for third party drivers
  • Initiate pre-employment assessment requests and ensure results are returned, reviewed, and reported to appropriate stakeholders
  • Accurately enter data into our applicant tracking system daily for all candidate updates and escalate issues and exception requests to upper management
  • Manage a high volume of candidate inquiries. Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of data. Assess, recommend and implement process improvements as needed
  • Assist with processes to ensure the successful administration of DOT Compliance according to the FMCSA across the company’s driver’s and fleet
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in DOT Compliance and/or relevant field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Leadership with complex, cross functional, projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, leading execution, and driving results
  • Evidence of customer-focused, both internal and external, and result-oriented management style. Possess a valid driver’s license and meet internal requirements to operate a vehicle on behalf of the company
  • A passionate and high energy leader, who possesses diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to positively influence others
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret DOT regulations and other regulatory documents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in developing, implementing, and assessing key metrics and process indicators for effective team and materials program management
