Overview:
The Lead Power Automation and Controls (PAC) Engineer/Manager will be a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for uptime, continuous improvement, troubleshooting, leading and training operators on all automation equipment within the Chick-fil-A Supply Distribution Warehouse.
This individual will be working with state-of-the-art industrial controls hardware and will be working with a diverse team to help deliver automation processes to the highest standards.
The PAC Engineer will be expected to work in a start-up environment with all types of trades, standing up sophisticated Material Handling Automation Equipment and transition to Site Controls Engineer to manage equipment and support daily Operations.

Responsibilities:
Business Requirements:
- Strong technical background to help troubleshoot and eliminate complex issues, as well as implement new solutions
- Manage and update key OT equipment in the form of bugs, firmware updates, outages etc
- Manage and coordinate controls hardware upgrades, obsolescence, and failures
- Manage day-to-day Operator teams, training and performance improvement and continuity
- Manage system downtime, integrations, and site escalation for all automation equipment
- Responsible for all PLC, Drive, Decentralized IO module, etc. troubleshooting
- Comfortable with developing code for PLC application in ladder logic, function block or structured text
- Comfortable with troubleshooting and developing visualization screens (HMI’s, Thin Clients, etc.) in FTView Studio, Ignition, etc
- Capable of developing a Root Cause Analysis and drive work in systematic and structured form
- Capable of interfacing with Warehouse Management Systems and/or Manufacturing Execution Systems
- Basic to intermediate understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing Practices
Customer Relations:
- Capable of working with a diverse team to help drive out losses and improve performances. Cross Disciplinary team includes and is not limited to: Industrial Engineers, Operations Managers, Operator Techs, Maintenance Techs, Foods Safety and Environmental Health and Safety
- Capable of leveraging and managing different 3rd party contractors and OEMs
- Possess intimate knowledge of who the customers are and the ability to put others above himself/herself
- Demonstrate the ability to value both relationships and results
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience Industrial Controls and Power Systems
- 3+ years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems troubleshooting and maintenance support
- 3+ years of experience in an Automated Manufacturing and/or Distribution environment with the ability to lead people
- 2+ years of experience with project leadership of large capital projects
- Demonstrated experience of Power Automation & Controls tools in an Industrial, Manufacturing and/or Distribution environment
- Capable of learning in a dynamic, complex environment
- Capable of troubleshooting and eliminating losses by analyzing source code and improving through a structured change management process
- Strong leadership, business problem definition, and priority setting skills
- Aptitude for communicating insights and collaborating across teams/organizations
- Physical ability to work on and around industrial equipment, including frequent climbing of stairs
- Experience in dealing with multiple issues and decision-making involving contractors, consultants, engineers, end users, etc
- Excellent business communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively coordinate between several vendors, partners, OEM’s and consulting teams
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Technical Skills:
- Intermediate skill with programming in ladder logic, function block and structure text in Rockwell Platforms
- Intermediate skill in developing HMI screens in both FTView Machine Edition and Site Edition platforms
- Intermediate skill in motion control applications: integrating servo drive systems, configuring servo drives, configuring motion profiles, tuning motion applications, and sizing/implementation servo applications
- Basic skill with process controls applications: Opera or PlantPAX design applications, PID tuning and applications, instrumentation calibration and setup (Flow Meters, Scales, Control Valves, Pressure Transducers, Radar, etc.)
- Programming knowledge and experience desired, i.e., Python, LabVIEW, Java, C#, MATLAB, etc
- Basic knowledge of machine safety practices, and capable of executing a risk assessment
- Basic knowledge of national codes not limited to: NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, ISO, OSHA, UL508A, and IEEE
- Intermediate to Expert Understanding of circuit design, derating, and hardware integration
- Understanding of both single phase and 3 phase electrical circuits
- Ability to troubleshoot power failures for both single and three phase circuits; not limited to ground faults, short circuits, open circuits, etc
- Capable of interpreting and analyzing single line diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment electrical prints
- Machine and/or Process Control experience
- Capable of working with different classes of sensors, drives, servos, motors, and controllers in an industrial setting
- Ability to learn Robotics and Industrial Vision to eliminate losses on the floor
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience Industrial Controls and Power Systems
- 5+ years of experience in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems troubleshooting and maintenance support
- 5+ years of experience in an Automated Manufacturing or Distribution environment with the ability to lead people
- 5+ years of experience with project leadership of large capital projects
- Demonstrated experience of Power Automation & Controls tools in an Industrial, Manufacturing and/or Distribution environment
- Advanced skill with programming in ladder logic, function block and structure text in Rockwell Platforms
- Advanced skill in developing HMI screens in both FTView Machine Edition and Site Edition platforms
- Capable of managing managed switches and enforcing OT Network best practices
- Advanced skill in motion control applications: integrating servo drive systems, configuring servo drives, configuring motion profiles, tuning motion applications, and sizing/implementation servo applications
- Intermediate skill with process controls applications: Opera or PlantPAX design applications, PID tuning and applications, instrumentation calibration and setup (Flow Meters, Scales, Control Valves, Pressure Transducers, Radar, etc.)
- Intermediate knowledge of machine safety practices, and capable of executing a risk assessment
