Linux System Administrator, Junior - Patuxent River

RMC is hiring for a Linux System Administrator who will provide Linux based workstation and server support to an RDT&E environment at Patuxent River, MD. The selected applicant will perform a variety of information technology/infrastructure activities, as well as IT inventory management. The selected candidate will need the following skillsets:
- Strong understanding of virtual and physical networking configuration
- Strong hardware, software and network troubleshooting skill sets
- RedHat 7, or higher, Enterprise administration, including workstation and server
- ACAS/Nessus experience or similar vulnerability scanner familiarity
- Experience using distributed file systems
Preferred Skills for the selected applicant are:
- Experience with Bash and/ or Perl scripting is desired
- Understanding of DISA STIG guidance and RMF requirements is a plus
Requirements
A high school diploma or GED and 0-3 years of relevant experience in system administration of LAN/WAN systems, systems maintenance and systems monitoring/reporting is required. The selected applicant must have DoD 8570/DoN 5239 IAT Level II certification (Security + CE) and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in providing tier 1 – tier 3 support to niche SME end users.The selected applicant must be a self-starter with a positive attitude and have excellent written and oral communication skills. A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, or related field is highly desired.
Occasional travel is required.
Security Clearance: An active Top Secret security clearance is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary Range for this position is: $75,000 to $95,000 annually
Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements.
