Under the general supervision of the Electrical Lead man, performs duties associated with preventive maintenance and repair to provide continuous and uninterrupted service of various utility and operating systems within the hospital. Works with limited assistance and independently as needed to complete daily/off-shift assignments.

Occasionally assumes responsibilities of the shop lead man in his/her absence. Provides assistance as needed to the facilities management department.

Responsibilities:

  • 1. Customer Service
  • 1.1 Wears proper uniform and I.D. card when answering service calls.
  • 2. Preventive Maintenance
  • 2.1 Makes proper rounds, signing all assigned clipboards and making rounds within the established time frames. Notify your lead man if you are unable to complete your rounds at 2:45pm (days). Log book entry if off-shift.
  • 3. Repair Work
  • 3.1 Repairs are completed professionally and in a timely manner.
  • 4. Troubleshooting
  • 4.1 Proper techniques and equipment are used to evaluate and analyze a problem efficiently.
  • 5. Energy Conservation
  • 5.1 Turns lights out when leaving mechanical rooms.
  • 6. Weekend/Holiday/Off shift Responsibilities
  • 6.1 Care a radio and beeper and respond to SRC calls ,Order# 1`S and protective servives requests. Assist the other mechanical systems shop as requested.
  • 7. General Responsibilities
  • 7.1 You are to be in unoform at the start of your shift anf follow the departmental uniform policy.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

Position requires high school graduation or equivalent experience. Trade school courses in welding, electricity, elecronics and pneumatic systems helpful.

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of six (6) years of increasingly complex experience in repair and service of mechanical, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment. At least three (3) years experience at Greenwich Hospital.

LICENSURE

N/A

SPECIAL SKILLS

Performs at the highest proficiency level of the Maintenance Mechanic level 1 position for at least a three (3) year period using performance reviews as a criteria. Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors and motors.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Bending, lifting, ladder use, kneeing and lifting 50 pounds. Regularly works in the patient care environment. Potential exposure to infectious or hazardous waste. Some work may require exposure to hot, damp and noisy environments. Standing or walking most of the day unassisted.

Lifts and or handles heavy weights as described above frequently. Working on or from ladders and motorized lift equipment while using tools. Occasionally works in awkward reaching, standing or crouching position.
