We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Healthcare, Hospitals, and Social Assistance industry. This role is based in Long Beach, California, and will be part of a small but effective Finance & Accounting team.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing account reconciliations, audits, posting of journal entries, and other ad-hoc projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Carry out the creation of journal entries, including recurring, accrual, and intercompany entries.
- Maintain detailed reconciliations of the balance sheet & income statement.
- Provide detailed analysis and explanations of any variances.
- Manage the fixed assets accounts.
- Review inventory reconciliations for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide necessary documentation and explanations for external reporting, audits & tax requests.
- Use the internal ERP system to ensure accurate and timely data extraction and reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with any ad-hoc reporting or projects as needed. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- Proven experience in a similar role within the healthcare, hospital, or social assistance industry
- Proficiency in handling accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Experience with bank reconciliations and maintaining general ledgers
- Ability to prepare and analyze journal entries
- Experience with month-end close processes
- Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, SAP, and Oracle Fusion
- Knowledge of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is a plus
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred, but not necessary
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and reliability
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups.
