A rapidly growing development firm based in Texas that develop projects from inception to NTP. This role will be an integral part of advancing the company's capabilities further by retaining their future projects through to COD.
The portfolio is utility-scale solar, storage and wind projects across ERCOT, MISO and the desire to expand into WECC too.
Job Description
The Origination Director will be responsible for:
Project Origination: Identify and assess new renewable energy opportunities across solar, wind, storage, and other clean energy technologies (predominately in ERCOT + MISO South). Build a pipeline of high-quality projects by cultivating relationships with landowners, developers, local governments, and other relevant stakeholders.
Market Analysis: Monitor renewable energy markets, regulatory trends, and policy developments to inform strategic decisions. Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to the business development team.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact with landowners, developers, community leaders, and other external partners to negotiate and secure land options, development agreements, and key project milestones.
Due Diligence & Risk Management: Lead or assist in the due diligence process for potential projects, including site assessments, environmental reviews, and financial modeling. Identify and mitigate risks associated with project origination.
Business Strategy Development: Collaborate with the internal development, finance, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment between project origination efforts and company objectives.
Proposal Development & Negotiation: Draft and negotiate terms for land agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and other key contractual documents. Ensure that terms are aligned with company goals and risk appetite.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders to foster ongoing business development and facilitate future project growth.

The Successful Applicant
The Origination Director will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in project origination, business development, or a related role within the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, energy storage, etc.).
- Preferably experienced in utility-scale projects in ERCOT & MISO.
- In-depth knowledge of renewable energy markets, technologies, and regulatory environments.
- Proven track record in identifying and originating successful renewable energy projects from inception to contract execution.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to perform due diligence and risk assessments on potential projects.
- Experience in structuring and negotiating land agreements, PPAs, and other key contracts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
