We are seeking a strategic and experienced HR Director to join our team in San Diego, California. This critical role in our non-profit organization involves overseeing the entire recruitment lifecycle, managing employee benefits, and fostering a positive internal community.

The selected candidate will be instrumental in ensuring our HR practices adhere to regulatory standards and align with our organization's objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the entire recruitment process, from applicant screening to onboarding, to attract and retain top talent.
  • Design and manage comprehensive onboarding programs to effectively integrate new employees.
  • Manage and administer benefits packages, ensuring employees are well-informed and the programs are competitive and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Foster a positive internal community by organizing company events and celebrating key company milestones.
  • Develop and distribute culture-enhancing newsletters to increase employee engagement and improve organizational communication.
  • Collaborate with the executive management team to set company policies related to employee behavior, expectations, and overall organizational culture.
  • Ensure compliance of all HR practices and policies with federal and state labor laws to safeguard the organization against legal risks.
  • Serve as the primary contact for staff inquiries regarding HR policies and employment-related issues.
  • Address and resolve workplace conflicts in a manner that promotes employee engagement and fosters a healthy work environment.
  • Develop, implement, and manage programs that facilitate continuous employee development, aligning with both individual and organizational goals.
  • Administer and oversee the organization’s performance management process, assisting managers and supervisors in creating and monitoring the achievement of employee goals and objectives.
  • Manage the compensation structure to ensure it is competitive, fair, and aligned with company objectives.
  • Maintain compliant HR records for onboarding, offboarding, and employee benefits in the HR system.
  • Administer compliant leave policies for employees on leave.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ADP
  • Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now
  • Familiarity with ATS - Asynchronous Transfer Mode
  • Strong understanding of HCM and HRMS systems
  • Previous experience managing employee benefit functions
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, including the C-Suite
  • Significant experience in ensuring compliance in HR processes and procedures
  • Proven track record in managing employee relations effectively
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is desirable
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and best practices applicable to HR and employment law
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to develop strategies and plans in alignment with the organization's mission and goals
  • Experience in managing, developing, and motivating teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is required; Master’s degree or relevant certification is preferred
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
