Overview:

Design and Process Engineer I – develops processes, specifications, and product tooling for production equipment under the guidance/mentorship of experience design and process engineers as assigned from the department Manager/Director. A Design Engineer and Process Engineer I will also interface with East Penn’s engineering, quality, and manufacturing departments to develop processes under the guidance/mentorship of an experienced Process Engineer as assigned by the department Manager/Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Engineering support to Manufacturing, Quality, H&S, Sales, Costing, and Maintenance on Diversified products, equipment, and tooling.
  • Prepare and deliver information, technical reports, and presentations to management, customers, vendors, and technical partners.
  • Contribute to concept generation and ideation processes.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Perform other duties which may become essential to the position.
  • Participate in regular technical reviews throughout all phases of a project.
  • Interact with production and engineering at all levels.
  • Travel worldwide for the company as required (possibly up to ~25%)
  • Interface with internal and external customers to develop new processes.
  • Create, maintain, and update published technical information.
  • Support other Process Engineering personnel as needed.
  • Represent East Penn as a technical interface with Equipment Suppliers.
  • Support daily operations of the existing manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Track the performance of processes to ensure the process’ ability to fulfill EPM and customer performance and safety requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical and plastics engineering principles to processing, tooling, robots, machines, measuring devices, etc.
  • Contribute to bringing products and processes from idea to proof of concept, through to the final, manufactural product.
  • Provide improvement concepts for manual and automated processes.
  • Assist in the design, development, integration, and testing of all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Validate new molds and equipment.
  • Develop process specifications, setup sheets, and procedures for manufacturing processes.
  • Attend industry related technical conferences, seminars, and/or trade shows.
  • May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical equipment and tooling.
  • Perform calculations and tests on products, equipment, and tooling as directed by a senior engineer.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to design products such as tooling, robots, machines, measuring devices, etc.
  • Responsible for ordering/purchasing tooling from vendors, including EPM’s Central Services.
  • Uses computer-aided design software and/or graphic tools to update drawings, design simple tooling, and design simple mechanical machines or mechanisms.

Qualifications:

Experience & Qualifications
  • Typically, with less than 5 years of Engineering experience.
  • Experience with the manufacturing processes preferred.
Education/Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Engineering disciplines preferred - Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Physics.
