The Opportunity ...:

Press Set Up:

  • Printing plates are set for every job and they are continually monitored to ensure correct adjustment and registration.
  • Die is frequently checked for proper adjustment and registration. Die pressure is properly set and monitored throughout the press run.
  • Inks are mixed and matched accurately by using color mixing software to obtain correct color specifications and compared against Pantone color book.
  • Press inks/OPV station is set-up correctly prior to each production run and maintained during the run.
  • Label sample for each order is checked to ensure all specifications have been met (printing plates match, die cut, color, registration, etc).
  • Participate in RCI’s for more efficient and better quality methods to achieve the run set-up.

Pressure sensitive labels production:

  • New plates are trimmed for production use with care to prevent damage and safety to prevent injury to employee (guards must be used).
  • Label color, and die cut quality are maintained at the highest levels during each production run.
  • Quality checks are performed on the following after each label roll is printed:
  • Print
  • Registration
  • Die cut
  • Color match
  • Barcode readability
  • Rub test
  • Ensure that finished labels have proper identification set-up (core tags and roll # tags on the cores) Job is performed by press assistant.
  • Ensure that quality checks are done throughout and train where needed. Communicate with the lead operator on suggested improvements for WO reporting and/or production procedures.

Quality control of raw paper and finished product:

  • Finished product is inspected, advise on any rewinds and ensure minimal waste. Advise press assistants on rewind jobs. Ensure proper documentation was recorded on the WO’s.
  • All quality problems with raw materials are immediately reported to lead operator/quality personnel/manager prior to using the raw material.
  • All print batches are closely monitored to ensure minimum re-work, re-runs, and material waste.
  • Printed labels meet all customer order specifications.
  • Raw paper stock is selected using first in / first out inventory methodology.
  • Mill roll data is accurately collected and reported for traceability on work order. Mill labels are attached to the WO. All feet of paper used are recorded and set in the production run sheets (set-up; actual run; quality issues).
  • Run data is provided along with finished label samples to quality personnel for ink resistance testing. Samples for die cut quality check are collected and inspected. Preliminary ink rub test is performed.
  • Serve as a back-up to the lead operator to assist press assistants with the inspection of all printing plates upon receiving in stock when needed.

Inventory, Parts and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Set-up bottom die repairs as needed.
  • Assist with observation and inspection of dies for any ware and tare and damage. Inform manager within 24-hours for any needed replacement.
  • Perform repairs where applicable and maintenance on the equipment as set up in the preventive maintenance protocol. Communicate closely with the lead operator to schedule time.
  • Write SOP where needed for proper operation of equipment. Train employees on new equipment (where applicable).

Administrative:

  • Ensure all documentation as set up for record keeping during production runs; waste; equipment; logs is properly recorded and maintained across the board.
  • Create SOP’s for PM and equipment training where needed and/or as directed. Work with lead operator/manager on assistance where needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Management.

Must be physically capable of:

  • Working 8+ hours per day, overtime, and occasional weekends as required by business needs
  • Working around moving industrial machinery and exposure to machinery noise, chemicals, and fumes from associated products
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling an average maximum weight of 50 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, squatting and stepping up/down from material handling equipment
  • Working in moderate cold to extreme heat
  • Using hand tools
  • lifting 26-55 LBS 30% of the time.
