Job Responsibilities:
The Intern, GIS will serve as an integral member of the Environmental Engineering team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Learn the responsibilities of the GIS workflow and the importance of data integrity, organization, and visualization in supporting company operations
- Assist with leasehold and data inventory management, including data validation, cleanup, and organization to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Support the creation, maintenance, and updating of GIS databases, shapefiles, and geospatial datasets
- Collaborate with team members to integrate GIS solutions with company systems and processes
- Research and implement best practices for GIS data management and workflow efficiency
- Provide general GIS and mapping support as needed for various projects and company initiatives
- Comply with Seneca’s EHSQ policies, standards and procedures and demonstrate active and regular involvement in EHSQ programs
Job Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree or recently completed a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in GIS Software such as ArcGIS
- Basic knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and cartographic principles
- Familiarity with database management and data visualization techniques
- Basic Proficiency (excel, outlook, and word) is required
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is important
