Medical Biller/Collections Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Biller/Collections Specialist to join our team in the Healthcare, Hospitals, and Social Assistance industry, based in Monroe, NJ. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity. As a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist, you will manage healthcare service billing and collections, maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, and communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the timely submission of claims for healthcare services
• Ensure accurate postings of payments
• Handle all activities related to collections while adhering to payer policies and healthcare regulations
• Perform detailed reviews of accounts to identify and resolve unpaid claims, denials, or underpayments
• Establish communication with patients to discuss outstanding balances and setup payment plans when required
• Liaise with insurance companies to expedite claim resolutions and appeals
• Utilize billing software and systems for tracking, updating, and reconciling patient accounts
• Collaborate on Accounts Receivable (AR), Benefit Functions, Billing Functions, and Collections tasks.
• Minimum of one year experience in medical billing or collections
• Experience in benefit functions within a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of billing functions specific to a hospital or healthcare environment
• Demonstrated skills in collections, preferably in the medical field
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial information
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with patients and insurance companies
• Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records
• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant certification or degree preferred.
