Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Director needed in Phoenix, AZ (SA198254)
The Fellowship is a three-year, six-fellow program, with initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
This team practices in a 571-bed academic, Level 1 trauma, medical center and attached clinics with support from Hepatology, Liver transplant, Advanced Endoscopy Services, General Surgery, all Surgical Subspecialties, Pathology, and Radiology.Be part of an expanding team of existing Gastroenterologists with APP support within the clinic setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES75% Clinical | 25% Academic
Maintain ongoing certification and compliance with ACGME requirements
Be a role model of professionalism
Ensure the program's compliance with institutional policies and procedures and ACGME requirements
Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education, develop and review program curricula, and monitor fellow supervision at all participating sites.Work with other departments and other clinical sites to develop and maintain appropriate clinical and educational rotations for the fellows and residents
Regularly assess and promote fellow well-being while fostering an environment in which diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the forefront of fellows' clinical and academic experiences
Develop opportunities for bidirectional communication with fellows and faculty
Oversee and facilitate faculty and fellow evaluations and performance management with feedback

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMD or DO degree and current certification in Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine, or subspecialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review Committee
Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment
Specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and|or administrative experience as an active faculty member in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or gastroenterology fellowshipOngoing clinical activity and ongoing academic achievements in gastroenterology, including publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research
Must have or be eligible for State of Arizona medical licensure
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to travel as needed between clinical training sites
