Responsibilities:

Purpose: Under the direction of management, and in collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC), creates and generates custom/standard reports for organizational initiatives and business operations including analytic development from Epic applications and databases to address operational measurement and decision making requirements.

Responsibilities include querying Epic/OSUWMC databases, data analysis, data discovery modeling, creating/updating SQL queries, integration of various external data sources, and generation of presentation materials and/or data visualization tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops clear and well-structured analytical plans and utilizes data sets to analyze operational data sets, patient populations, business outcomes, and business operations of a significant and sensitive nature. Partners with business leaders to understand analyses and the impact of cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of client/department business strategies, processes, and services to aid in data interpretation.
  • Creates and maintains custom reports on key business areas and indicators to identify and track trending, process improvement efforts and other business outcomes.
  • Demonstrates analytical critical thinking skills for process development or problem resolution.
  • Utilizes innovative thinking and tools for optimization of processes, reports and tasks.
  • Develops written procedures and user documentation for data analysis and reporting
  • Produces information for administrative, billing and clinical presentations and decision support.
  • Presents information to multiple stakeholders (e.g. executive management, providers, staff, students, payers, internaldepartments/teams, networking groups and the Epic community).
  • Interprets complex billing and clinical data specifications and validates reports for quality initiatives.
  • Participates in conference calls and conferences to maintain knowledge and understanding of quality initiatives inrelation to data requirements.
  • Adheres to project plans, meets deadlines and timeframes, and notifies management immediately of any issues thatcould delay/impact the projects.
  • Works with vendors and internal analysts to meet government, payor and other third-party data requirements.
  • Develops recommendations based on data requirements.
  • Evaluates, trouble-shoots and leads root-cause analysis for any errors or gaps identified duringdevelopment/validation of data/reports. Understand how any related changes could impact other applications,programs and/or workflows. Collaborate with others as needed.
  • Adheres to OSUP and the OSU Wexner Medical Center established policies and procedures and maintains strictconfidentiality of all data and information.
  • Demonstrates cost-effective use of supplies and of own time and others’ time; systematically organizes andprioritizes work.
  • Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in information systems or related field, or an equivalent amount of work experience.
  • Epic certification (either at date of hire, or within 6 months of date of hire).
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data specifications to create/generate the files and reports necessary to meet program/contract requirements and create actionable recommendations based off that data.
Preferences:
  • Existing Epic certification in Resolute PB, Cadence, EpicCare Ambulatory, Healthy Planet and/or Clarity, or a related module.
  • Experience in computer applications including proficiency in querying relational databases (including SQL), data transformation (e.g. Alteryx) and data visualization (e.g. Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau).

Pay Range: USD $78,261.95 - USD $117,392.92 /Yr.
