Import/export clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Import/Export Clerk to coordinate and manage our international trade operations. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs laws and arranging successful shipments and deliveries on an international scale.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and arrange import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with both domestic and foreign trade regulations.
• Process and track orders efficiently to ensure timely delivery.
• Prepare and manage documentation including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, and customs paperwork.
• Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and customers to arrange pick-ups and deliveries.
• Calculate and coordinate storage, insurance, and tariff charges.
• Liaise with government agencies for issues related to import/export permits, duties, and licenses.
• Keep records of all imports and exports for audit purposes.
• Notify customers of any delays or problems that might affect delivery.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in logistics or supply chain management is an asset.
• Proven experience in import/export or logistics with knowledge of local and international import/export legislation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle paperwork effectively.
• Basic accounting skills to calculate duties, freight costs and other relevant expenses.
• Capable of working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
