The Opportunity
Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for the role of Associate Scientist, Research and Development. This position is physically located onsite in Abbott Park, IL. This Associate Scientist will be part of the R&D organization and will participate in scientific and technical activities supporting the development of new immunoassays on the Alinity i and ARCHITECT systems and advancing the product through the product development process.
What You’ll Work On- Experimental procedures: Conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data.
- Recommends options for other experiments. Implements plans and evaluates data with oversight.
- Presents data within team.
- Expertise and Problem Solving: Troubleshoots instrumentation or experiments; recognizes and assists with technical problems.
- Project Planning: Participates in planning project tasks; providing input to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Lab Safety: Participates in routine maintenance and lab safety.
- Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.
- Quality: Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in biological, physical sciences, or mathematics with 1 - 2 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Knowledge of analytical instruments assigned by supervisor.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant experience from a medical diagnostics company or similar.
- Experience performing immunoassays.
- Experience with Alinity or ARCHITECT instruments.
- Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.

The base pay for this position is $52,000.00 – $104,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
