Social Worker - Inpatient Palliative Care

The Clinical Social Worker I is a licensed, experienced professional who is the clinical expert in the assessment and treatment of patients, families and social work consultation to the interdisciplinary teams in a variety of inpatient and ambulatory settings in the Yale New Haven Health System.As the clinical expert, the scope of practice includes, but is not limited to, diagnostic assessment, counseling, psychotherapy, brief treatment, crisis intervention, mental health consultation, teaching/mentoring, and/or other project/task force participation as assigned by supervisor.
The clinical social worker will work collaboratively with members of the health care teams throughout the organization. Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work.
EXPERIENCE
For Connecticut, consistent with LCSW licensure requirements, 3,000 hours of post-masters social work experience and 100 hours of post-masters clinical supervision. For Rhode Island, consistent with LICSW licensure requirements, 24 months of experience licensed as a licensed clinical social worker under appropriate supervision.
LICENSURE
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the State of Connecticut, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) from the State of Rhode Island, or those holding licenses from other states, will need an 'endorsement' and meet the State of Connecticut or State of Rhode Island license requirements
SPECIAL SKILLS
The Social Worker will possess the following special skills: empathy, active listening, critical thinking, strong organizational and computer skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with and advocate for patients and families.
Additional Information:
LCSW or LMSW encouraged to apply; LCSW preferred. Salary commensurate with licensure. Assigned to Inpatient Palliative Care Oncology & Medicine Teams. Five 8 hour shifts, 8:00-4:30. Sunday through Friday alternating working every other Sunday or Friday.
