Overview: We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations within a fast-paced job shop environment. This role will involve leading a team of skilled workers, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency, and managing production processes from CNC programming to final product assembly.

The ideal candidate will have leadership skills, hands-on experience in fabrication, and expertise in LEAN manufacturing and process engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of machinists and fabrication personnel. Coordinate daily activities, assign tasks, and ensure that production targets are met.
  • Production Oversight: Manage workflow by interpreting blueprints, work orders, and schedules to ensure materials, equipment, and labor are used efficiently. Implement production plans and ensure all work adheres to safety, quality, and company standards.
  • CNC Programming & Operation: Oversee CNC machine programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Ensure machines are set up for accurate, efficient operations, and train team members in machine use.
  • Process Engineering: Utilize process engineering skills to refine production processes. Improve efficiency by identifying bottlenecks, implementing new procedures, and leveraging Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques (5S, Kaizen, TPM).
  • Maintenance Coordination: Manage and monitor preventative maintenance programs and ensure the timely repair of equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Quality Control: Inspect work in progress and finished products to maintain high standards. Implement quality assurance practices and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold all safety regulations, conducting safety training and inspections, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant standards.
  • Cost & Inventory Management: Monitor department budgets, control costs, and manage inventory to ensure the availability of necessary tools and materials while minimizing waste.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve any technical or equipment issues in a timely manner to avoid delays in production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as Engineering and Purchasing to align production capabilities with business goals. Engage in cross-departmental problem-solving and process improvement initiatives.
