About Our Client

The Logistics Manager for perishable foods oversees the planning, execution, and optimization of transporting, storing, and delivering perishable goods such as fresh produce, dairy, and meat. This role is crucial in ensuring that products maintain their quality, safety, and freshness throughout the supply chain.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  1. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure product freshness and reduce waste, coordinating stock levels based on demand forecasting and supplier lead times.
  2. Temperature Control and Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain appropriate temperature conditions throughout the supply chain to prevent spoilage and contamination.
  3. Vendor and Supplier Management: Work closely with suppliers, carriers, and warehousing partners to manage schedules, quality standards, and delivery times.
  4. Route Optimization: Develop and optimize delivery routes to reduce transportation time and costs, while ensuring that perishable goods reach their destinations promptly.
  5. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control checks to verify the condition of goods during and after transit.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with transporting perishables, including spoilage, delays, and equipment failure.
  7. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze logistics data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create reports for stakeholders on key performance metrics.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of Cold Chain Logistics: Understanding of refrigeration, freezing, and temperature-sensitive storage is essential for managing perishable goods.
  • Supply Chain and Logistics Expertise: Familiarity with logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and tools to track shipments and manage inventory.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Quick decision-making to handle disruptions such as delays, equipment breakdowns, or spoilage.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring that safety and quality standards are met throughout the supply chain.
  • Communication Skills: Coordinate effectively with suppliers, transport providers, and internal teams.

The Successful Applicant
  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years logistics/supply chain management experience
  • Experience in food logistics or cold chain management.
  • Knowledge of regulations like the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) in the U.S.

Target compensation for the Logistics Manager is $75,000 - $90,000 + Bonus.
