Overview:
Richmond Memorial Hospital (RMH) Extended Care Unit provides high quality care for adult (18 years old and older) who require complex discharge planning and/or long length of stay needs. Staff will care for a variety of patients and are involved in health supervision, patient/family education, and promotion of continuity of care for a culturally and socioeconomically diverse patient population.Department will manage and care for patients classified as Outpatient in a Bed (OPIB) requiring continued hospital stay until a safe transition discharge plan is arranged.
Responsibilities:
Position is responsible for providing basic medical attention to patients and assessing their wellbeing as part of a larger medical team. Supports medical staff in administering care to patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Patient care tasks responsibilities to ensure that each patient receives the comprehensive and personalized care they need may include the following:
- Evaluate the patient’s wellbeing, reporting any needs to medical staff.
- Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of each patient, including bathing, feeding and dressing.
- Assist providers and registered nurses with basic medical tasks, such as administering prescribed medication, monitor vitals, changing of dressings and collection of specimens as needed.
- Update patient records in a confidential manner.
- Explain treatments and procedures to patients and families.
- Assisting patients with mobility and transfer needs.

Education/Licensure Required:
- Graduate of an approved Licensed Nursing Program with a current North Carolina LPN license or LPN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
- Department-specific certification requirements must be achieved within the first year of employment.
- BCLS (Obtained within 30 days of hire)
