Sr. Accountant

We are searching for a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the transport industry. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including supervising and directing payroll, accounts payable, and financial close process.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage payroll, accounts payable, and the financial close process
• Ensure the accuracy of general ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Administer the accounts payable disbursement platform and purchase card portfolio
• Ensure operational controls within the purchasing, accounts payable, and invoicing systems
• Collaborate with department managers to develop, track, allocate, and forecast overhead and employee benefit expenses
• Ensure timely submission of regulatory filings, federal & state tax/fee filings and associated payments
• Develop accurate financial statements for each financial period and provide management with an executive summary of financial results, including an analysis of historical trends
• Ensure financial transactions and reporting comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies & procedures
• Review processes and make recommendations for improvements
• Handle ad hoc special projects and analyses as requested.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant.
• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
• Extensive experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrable experience in Month End Close procedures
• Familiarity with ERP software
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
