Supply Chain Solutions Continuous Improvement Internship
Overview:
PITT OHIO, a $900 million, high service, highly profitable, transportation solutions provider offering SUPPLY CHAIN, GROUND, LTL and TRUCKLOAD services is seeking a Continuous Improvement Summer Intern. This internship position is located at our corporate headquarters in the Strip District area of Pittsburgh, PA.
Responsibilities:
The intern should work with internal stakeholders and systems to create a documented process and data workflow diagram for all Supply Chain Carriers that use the HUB. This should include the data workflow should include but is not limited to the following; • Identify the - What, Where, Why, When and How for the following data sources within the workflow;- Carrier Data
- Systems Data - Storage and Management
- Internal Departments Data – Storage and Management
- Learn and support the Continuous Improvement Specialist with testing Power Automate functions and training of AI models to support business practices.
- Create process documentation, including process documents and data flow diagrams.
- Implement data visualizations (charts, maps, etc.).
- Collaborate with the PITT OHIO Supply Chain team in Information Technology, Administration, Operations, and other departments to produce documented process to accompany data visualizations.
- Collaborate with outside Carriers and the POE Administration team to produce documented process to accompany data visualizations.
- Maintain security and integrity of sensitive or confidential information.
- Ability to research external business standards for data management.
Intern Project: Intern-Led Documentation, Analysis, of Hub Data Workflows and AI support.
Objective: The intern will document and analyze the data workflows and processes of the HUB used within the Supply Chain and the Enterprise, focusing on how customer and carrier data is received, utilized, and stored. The goal is to provide comprehensive documentation, identify potential process failures, and suggest improvements for scalability and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Must be majoring in a STEM major
- Completed at least Sophomore year at a University/College
- Minimum GPA of at least 3.0
- This position requires strong organizational and time management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a passion for collaboration and innovation.
- Working knowledge of MS Office 365 suite is required.
- Knowledge of SQL database is preferred.
- Knowledge of Power BI is preferred.
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence systems and technologies.
- Exposure to Power Automate functions.
- Familiarity working within multiple systems to understand data.
- The position requires technical skills, including extracting data from various types of databases and inspecting/auditing data.
- Experience with data visualization tools and principles of data visualization design is preferred.
- This is a team-oriented position, although the applicant must possess the ability to work independently.
- A strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal communication skills are a must.
