This position is based at 1411 Brazos St, Austin, but is eligible for telecommuting from anywhere in the State of Texas.

WHO YOU ARE:

Seeking an IT professional who possesses the skill to develop and test Java applications. Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills. Communicate in a professional, customer-focused manner. Collaborate with other IT teams to accomplish work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Software Engineer (Programmer IV-V) performs advanced to highly advanced (senior-level) computer programming work. Work involves overseeing programming projects, analyzing proposed applications, design and develop software solutions. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Maintains a reliable predictable work schedule. May provide guidance or oversee the work of others. May be called upon to work outside of normal business hours to complete urgent assignments or troubleshoot critical issues.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

  • Perform advanced to highly advanced automated systems development work in support of application solutions software systems.
  • Perform or may oversee software development activities during all phases of the system development lifecycle (SDLC): design, code, test, implement, and maintain.
  • Diagnose problems with automated applications and take corrective action. Write specifications for developing or correcting software for handling highly complex policies / procedures to improve system performance and / or accuracy.
  • Develop and test SQL Stored procedures and Java Applications that meet design specifications, including accessibility and usability requirements.
  • May serve as backup to the manager and other team members.
  • Actively participate in maintaining and providing input to the departmental dashboard.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and agency laws, rules, policies, and procedures including IT Handbook and SOPs that govern TWC IT.
  • Contribute to teamwork and communicate effectively.
  • Promote an image of IT excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:

  • Strong Java programming skills: Demonstrated experience with core Java concepts, libraries, and frameworks.
  • Web Development Expertise: Proficiency with JSP, HTML, CSS, JQuery, Bootstrap, and Angular.
  • Spring Framework Mastery: In-depth knowledge of Spring Suite components including Spring Core, Spring IOC, Spring Batch, and Spring Boot.
  • SQL proficiency: Strong SQL skills, including writing, optimizing, and maintaining stored procedures (T-SQL, PL-SQL).
  • Database experience: Expertise in JPA and ORM technologies (Hibernate, My Batis).
  • Cloud Platform Knowledge: Experience with AWS Cloud technologies (Cloudwatch, EC2, S3, Lambda, Serverless applications) and/or MS Azure Cloud technologies (JBOSS EAP on Azure, MS Azure SQL Server).
  • Containerization: Experience with Docker for application deployment and management.
  • Batch Processing: Familiarity with batch processing methodologies and techniques.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Ability to accurately test software applications using data-driven development approaches.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and document technical information.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

  • Programmer IV: Four years of full-time experience in data processing, computer science, computer programming, systems analysis, and/or related field.
  • Programmer V: Five years of full-time experience in data processing, computer science, computer programming, systems analysis, and/or related field.
  • Both Levels: Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
