We are seeking Assistant Traffic Engineers who will work on New York City infrastructure design projects at our office in Lower Manhattan. NV5’s New York City Office operates on a four-day work week and we work on a wide variety of public and private infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Traffic Engineer will engage in research, investigation, and design tasks related to roadway and infrastructure design projects for New York City or State agencies. This may include:

  • Develop work orders and plans in AutoCAD for signs, signals, markings, and other traffic control devices
  • Conduct site visits and field observations
  • Prepare traffic analysis calculations and statistical analyses of traffic volume and crash data
  • Perform traffic, pedestrian, parking, safety, and transit analyses
  • Use innovative data analytics tools and traffic analysis software
  • Prepare high-quality graphics, data visualizations, and reports
  • Develop deliverables from initiation to client-ready products
  • Attend internal and external project meetings

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience in traffic analysis software including HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, and/or VISSIM preferred
  • Experience in task management and interacting with clients
  • Proficiency with technical writing
  • Experience in transportation safety engineering and/or planning
  • Experience in multimodal (bicycle/pedestrian/freight) engineering and/or planning
  • Experience in Maintenance and Protection of Traffic
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS or other GIS software is a plus

Certifications/Licenses:

  • EIT Preferred

Compensation: $65,000.00 to $85,000.00 per year

Base pay offered for this New York based role may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
