Responsibilities:
Job Summary:
Demonstrates competency in patient care for adult and geriatric patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and medical gas administration.
Job Details:
- Must be proficient to perform in all areas of the hospital.
- Accurately document time spent with patients and bill accordingly.
- Be willing to act as a preceptor to newer employees, students, or staff upgrading their ICU skills, in-servicing co-workers and RNs.
- Set up, maintains, performs and or monitors a variety of respiratory procedures to ill patients.
- Completely assess all patients, including documentation according to department policy.
- Instruct and or educate patients and families about their pulmonary diseases while maintaining patient's confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- This position requires licensure by the State of California, Board of Medical Quality Assurance as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, appropriate clinical experience is required.
- Knowledge of: anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pathophysiology of the cardio respiratory system, biomedical electronics, basic mathematics, chemistry, physics, and psychology, pharmacology relating to respiratory therapy, respiratory care practice act, infection control.
Licensure:
- Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
