Special Education Pre-K Teacher

The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, parents, and support staff to ensure that each student achieves their fullest potential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
• Create lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities, integrating subjects such as Math, Physical Education, and Behavioral Health.
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to meet individual needs effectively.
• Provide direct instruction in both academic subjects and life skills, including behavioral therapy techniques when necessary.
• Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages social interaction and personal growth.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education practices.

Qualifications:

• BA Early Childhood Education or related field and State Department of Edcuation certification or
• Equivalent certification accepted by State Department of Education or
• BA in Early Childhood Education and 2 years supervised experience (for those hired before 2008) or
• Health Department-approved accredited study plan to qualify within 7 years:
• An Associates (AA or AS) Degree in early children education, practicum included or
• 90 or more undergraduate college credits and one year of classroom experience teaching children in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten or grades one to two or
• A BA in any other academic subject and one year of classroom experience teaching children up to the third grade.
