Summary Create and establish designs in accordance with customer specifications, industry standards, existing designs and company standards. Utilize existing drawings sketches, 3D models, prototypes or verbal instruction for new and existing designs.
Provide technical oversight of other members of design department. Leads the technical design effort that may include up to three designers or drafters. Apply industry-standard drafting techniques to generate and interpret drawings in support of assigned projects and provide guidance and leadership to drafters to ensure that all established Company and client design standards and practices are followed
Duties and Responsibilities-Review the scope of work for assigned projects and lead the civil/structural design tasks for the project.-Perform preliminary and advanced work in developing working layouts and final drawing deliverables for foundations, concrete structures, structural steel, masonry and wood (plans, elevations sections and details).-Check design drawings and specifications including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometric, dimensioning and other output.-Interact with vendors, customers and other departments to obtain design parameters and to coordinate designs.-Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required.-Estimate drafting hours for civil/structural scope of services for proposals.-Mentor/supervise other designers and drafters.-Keep supervisor advised of work status, work load, problems, and progress as related to work assignments.
