The Manager, Human Resources (HR) demonstrates a baseline and growing understanding of relevant HR issues such as employee relations, coaching and development, organizational structure, assessment and succession planning, and performance management.

The Manager HR serves as an independent, self-driven HR professional, but also frequently collaborates with other members of the HR team, including HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and HR specialists in Staffing and Learning & Development (L&D), to support the overall mission of the organization and promote alignment of programs and goals across Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America (MTPA).

The Manager, HR supports the team’s commitment to partnering with management on HR-related issues, acting as an employee champion and change agent. The Manager, HR also serves as a direct liaison between the VP, HR, HRBPs and the specialized HR teams (e.g., Staffing, L&D, etc.), interfacing with them frequently, communicating business priorities from the VP, HR, and then ensuring delivery of those HR products and services to the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership of special projects and various initiatives as assigned by the VP, HR / HRBP teams. Meets agreed-to timelines and budgets.
  • Handles full life-cycle employee relations cases as assigned by the VP, HR. Meets with manager(s) and employee(s) to fully discern all issues and root causes. Summarizes each case and presents recommended corrective actions to the VP, HR. Subsequently, executes on approved corrective actions and ensures appropriate case follow-up.
  • Partners with HRBPs to ensure issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinates and gathers necessary information from the business and employees for review and decision in collaboration with HRBPs.
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with specialized HR teams (e.g., staffing, L&D, etc.), liaises between the teams and the VP, HR/HRBPs, and collaborates as needed on projects and initiatives to ensure timely completion.
  • Manages wide-ranging HR projects, including maintenance of the employee handbook, and coordination of presentations. Continually analyzes existing HR programs/processes/systems, identifies gaps, and organizes and leads additional projects, as needed, to resolve those gaps.
  • Maintains an awareness of new practices and relevant metrics both in the HR field and in the pharmaceutical industry, and benchmarks as appropriate to ensure the company retains a competitive stance.
  • Maintains solid knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and programs to provide procedural guidance and problem-solving assistance in addressing HR related inquiries or issues.
  • Responds to inquiries from employees and managers as appropriate and research information as needed to resolve issues.
  • Manages wide-ranging HR projects, including development of an HR Dashboard capturing all HR metrics for the department. Works to Identify tools/vendors, negotiate, and conducts contract review and implementation.
  • May attend weekly meetings with HRBPs and respective business units.
  • Focuses on employee-based information / data / details for assigned regions or businesses.
Provides backup support to HR Coordinator ensuring critical day-to-day tasks related to New Hires are completed in addition to other key tasks
  • Supports the pre/post-employment processes (preparing offer letters, initiating background check screenings, and onboarding initiatives, delivering New Hire Orientation and fields questions from new hires within the U.S. and Canada.
  • Works on ad hoc, confidential projects for Dept. Head / HR team, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business or a related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; persuasive and engaging; collaborates well with colleagues.
  • Capable of deftly handling the most sensitive HR matters (e.g., employee relations cases, etc.).
  • Widely recognized, both by managers and employees, as a trusted adviser who demonstrates sound judgement and personal integrity.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with issues and documentation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and initiative with flexibility to work extended hours, if needed.
  • Ability to deliver effective results and meet tight deadlines and targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great sense of urgency; thinks creatively to overcome obstacles.
  • Highly responsive and customer service oriented.
  • Facility for working with data, creating meaningful, business-relevant reports, and then making sound business recommendations based on keen analytical skills.
  • Good computer skills: familiarity with HR systems (HRIS, LMS and/or ATS); intermediate Word and Excel skills; ability to use Excel to analyze data.
  • Required to travel if needed up to 5-10%.

The salary range for this position is $97,000 - $125,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.

This salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.

This position is eligible to participate in our annual Short-Term Incentive (STI) program. Specific information about the plan including eligibility rules and target, will be furnished upon hire.
