Job Description
  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the accounts payable team, conducting performance reviews, overseeing hiring and training, and providing continuous support to ensure optimal team performance.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounts payable functions, including vendor payments, expense reimbursements, client refunds, and escrow transactions, using payment methods such as checks, ACHs, wires, and credit card payments.
  • Customer & Internal Stakeholder Support: Provide exceptional customer service to attorneys, business professionals, and staff, addressing accounting inquiries, resolving issues, and offering guidance on accounting procedures.
  • Process Improvement & Compliance: Develop and implement streamlined accounting procedures aligned with firm policies and best practices to ensure efficiency and compliance with internal controls.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate submission of financial documentation and provide training on accounting-related processes.
  • Quality Control & Auditing: Review accounts payable team work to ensure high-quality processing, accuracy, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Issue Resolution & Special Projects: Resolve discrepancies, answer inquiries, and manage special projects, ensuring that deadlines are met and information is provided promptly.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in accounts payable, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a law firm or high-volume, professional services environment. They will possess a deep understanding of accounting processes and the ability to manage complex financial transactions with precision and compliance.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving and team development. Proficiency in Excel, legal accounting software (such as Aderant, Elite, or SAP), and knowledge of sales and use tax regulations will be highly beneficial.
