Job Opportunity: Building Assessment - Structural Engineer

Our Client is seeking a skilled and experienced Building Assessment - Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting clients with a variety of projects, including building and system assessments, upgrades, feasibility studies, sustainment and maintenance programs, emergency and disaster response and repair, and ensuring code compliance.

As a Structural Engineer, you will collaborate closely with a cross-disciplinary team to complete diverse assignments.

Essential Duties:

  • Leverage proficient technical knowledge in structural engineering and general building systems (MEP, Fire, and Site).
  • Make design decisions with limited oversight, receiving technical guidance on complex design issues.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members.
  • Conduct site assessments, accessing sites via ladders, scissor lifts, or articulating boom lifts.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations such as weather events, fires, and explosions.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through frequent meetings.
  • Assist in managing multiple personnel and client assignments.
  • Create and review conditional assessments and other client deliverables.
  • Provide backup engineering support to the structural engineering department.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • General understanding of building systems, including civil/site, roofing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and paving.
  • Experience with design software such as Risa3D, RisaFloor, Enercalc, and RetainPro.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and staff assignments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
  • Willingness to travel with little notice (travel requirements up to 20%).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering with a concentration in structures.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience, with at least 3 years focused on existing buildings and renovations, particularly commercial projects.
  • Conditional assessment E2018 experience and field experience are strongly desired.
  • Registered professional/structural engineer or the ability to be licensed within 1 year of hire is required for advancement.
