Overview:

Oversees member business lending portfolio administrative and collection functions, including credit analysis and support services. Monitors and conducts financial analyses and loan reviews to assure effective credit administration, and manages the special assets/OREO properties of the credit union.

Plans and directs the member business lending underwriting, processing, servicing, and collections activities of the organization to meet member financial needs and achieve credit union goals and objectives.

Compensation: Minimum $131,600/year

Maximum $188,000/year

Applicant with a desired mix of knowledge, skills, and abilities could anticipate $141,000 - $150,400/year

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:

o Reports to and works closely with the Chief Lending Officer on portfolio risk/credit asset management.

o Proactively assists in managing the credit union's loan portfolios to ensure strong asset quality, ensuring continuity with strategic and financial objectives - given appropriate risk tolerance.

o In conjunction with the Chief Lending Officer and the Chief Experience Officer, develops and enhances the internal credit culture and ensures clear resources, lending policies and guidelines are in place.

o Helps set the credit culture and tone, communicating the organization's credit direction and risk management efforts to internal audiences.

o Oversees Credit Administration, monitoring loan portfolios to ensure conformity with terms, ascertain any developing trends, identify potential problems and ensure loans are risk-rated properly and managed within concentration limits.

o Contributes to business related credit risk policies, participates in credit risk committees, in addition to other organizational leadership accountabilities related to the function.

o Demonstrates functional, technical and credit expertise and effectively transfers this knowledge to team members.

o Provides coaching and mentoring to others within the organization.

o Develops competitive credit strategies that prudently and effectively mitigate risk and maximize returns.

o Manages development, maintenance and reporting of risk rating, and reviews ALLL.
  • Senior Leadership:

o Participates on the Senior Leadership Team with peers from different areas of the credit union to lead and support initiatives to achieve strategic and business plan objectives.

o Assures recruitment and retention of staff capable of meeting the goals of the credit union by providing managerial leadership, mentoring and direction.

o Contributes to efficient credit union operations by performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Position requires:

o Credit Risk Management theory and effective practices for risk mitigation and maximizing return.

o Knowledge of services for small business including banking products and services, investments, insurance, mortgage loans and cash management.

o Federal and state deposit, lending and collection laws.

o Business loan underwriting and commercial real estate appraisal regulations/procedures.

o Work in a cohesive team environment to drive business execution, while collaborating with multiple internal and external partners in a positive fashion.

o Plan for intermediate and long-range organizational goals and direct their implementation.

o Realize high return on human resources investment by planning, organizing and supervising the work of assigned personnel.

o Select and train qualified subordinates.

o Small business client operating, financial and sales issues.

o Bondable.

Education/Experience/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field, required. Advanced degree preferred. Ten years of progressive experience in business lending and deposit services at a bank, credit union, and/or other financial institution. Corporate, industry training, or continuing education on the business market, small business target market, etc.
