Position Overview:

BayCare Medical Group is seeking an experienced, Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist to join the BayCare Cancer Institute Proton Center located in Tampa, Florida. This unique opportunity will also include a leadership role serving as the Medical Director, providing clinical leadership and oversight of the radiation oncology department within the BayCare Cancer Institute and BayCare Medical Group.

This role involves ensuring the highest standards of patient care, managing clinical operations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize treatment outcomes. The Medical Director will also focus on strategic planning, quality improvement, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Clinical Leadership:

Provide expert clinical care in radiation oncology including Proton Therapy.

Oversee the development and implementation of clinical protocols and treatment plans.

Ensure evidence-based practice and adherence to clinical guidelines.

Serve as a primary consultant for complex cases and treatment decisions.

Develops services and programs that positively impact clinical cancer services.

Quality and Compliance:

Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of patient care.

Monitor clinical outcomes and initiate improvements where necessary.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Conduct regular audits and participate in peer reviews.

Effectively facilitates meetings at Radiation Oncology and organizational level.

Engage with System Medical Physics Chief to ensure use of evidence-based practice and appreciative enquiry into program development and improvement activities.

Strategic Planning:

Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the radiation oncology department.

Collaborate with Cancer Institute leadership to optimize appropriate utilization of all radiation therapy modalities, including proton therapy for identified patient populations.

Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of services.

Foster relationships with referring physicians and other stakeholders.

Represent the department in hospital committees and external forums.

Education and Training:

Mentor and supervise medical staff.

Organize and participate in continuing medical education (CME) activities.

Promote research and support clinical trials within the department.

Experience Required:

Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience in radiation oncology, with 5 years of proton therapy preferred.

Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications:

Education Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
  • Board certification in Radiation Oncology.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of clinical experience in radiation oncology, with 5 years of proton therapy preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
