Overview:
The Transplant Financial Coordinator mitigates the financial risk to UF Health by performing an accurate financial clearance review along with a comprehensive analysis of patient and payer specific benefits and patient liability. Manages high dollar transplant patient accounts including pre and post-transplant episodes of care for the hospital and physician groups.
Represents the Financial Services Division as a member of various transplant teams, providing financial perspectives required to make treatment decisions with direct communication to the physicians and his/her clinic support staff, the Medical Review Board, and making recommendations to the same.
Negotiates payment approvals from third party payers by analyzing individual plan benefits and providing clinical information to medical/transplant case managers in order to gain pre-approval for all episodes of treatment (Hospital to Hospital transfers, Transplant Evaluation, High Tech Radiology, UNOs listing, Transplant Surgery, Post-Transplant follow-up care, etc.) and/or coordinating peer-to-peer reviews.
Establishes the patient�s ability to pay, negotiates deposits and payment plans, calculates patient financial responsibility and provides estimate, explores/coordinates alternative funding sources including community fund-raising and government programs in position to assist transplant patients.
Conducts an in-depth face to face financial interview to create a strategy to ensure lifelong financial security. Reviews Government programs and legislation which affects transplantation programs and reimbursement and reports on impacts. Financially coordinates maximum reimbursement for hospital and physician groups while being the financial liaisons between the Transplant clinics and the patient/family throughout the transplant process.

Takes part and supports the Financial Supervisor/Manager in regulatory meetings with the Transplant Director, Transplant Managers, and Managed Care, to include other member throughout the transplant departments

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent is required. College degree or related course work desired. Minimum of 1 year experience as an Inpatient Financial Representative at a Transplant Facility or 3 years as a Financial Representative in a hospital facility is required.
A working knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology is required. Must have experience which demonstrates ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize and react to changing priorities, make timely and accurate judgment decisions, effectively communicate with the health-care professionals and work independent of direct supervision.
Proficiency in applications as well as demonstrated ability to work with multiple computer systems is required. Must be able to demonstrate exceptional verbal, analytical and written communication skills. Must be adaptable, tactful and able to work well under pressure.

Applicant must demonstrate an understanding of 'first impression' position and the need for appropriate dress, attitude and concern associated with the position.
