At Convergent Energy and Power, our mission is to make the electrical grid cleaner, more reliable, and less expensive by leveraging state-of-the-art energy storage and distributed generation technologies.

The Associate Project Manager (APM) supports the management of a pipeline of energy storage, solar, and solar-plus-storage projects during the construction phase, from Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Commercial Operation Date (COD) and Final Completion.

Under the mentorship of a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, the APM contributes to scheduling, budgeting, engineering coordination, permitting, supplier management, and construction oversight. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure project success while maintaining quality, safety, and cost-efficiency standards.

What You’ll Do

Project Planning and Coordination (40%)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, tracking milestones, and identifying critical path items.
  • Support the coordination of internal teams, including engineering, procurement, and legal, to achieve project goals.
  • Maintain organized document control for bids, design drawings, contracts, and close-out documentation.
  • Prepare and contribute to project status reports, highlighting progress, risks, and action plans.
  • Participate in the creation of RFPs, requirement documents, and high-level design deliverables.
  • Track and support compliance with customer, vendor, and contractor agreements.
  • Operates under guidance, escalating significant risks or deviations to a senior project leader.
Construction Oversight and Quality Assurance (30%)
  • Assist with monitoring on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct and document site inspections before, during, and after construction to support quality control and progress reporting.
  • Support coordination of material and equipment deliveries and track project inventory.
  • Work with Engineering to expedite engineering deliverables and supplier inputs to maintain project schedules.
  • Handles routine issues with autonomy, escalating complex or critical concerns to the Project Manager.
Budget and Cost Management (15%)
  • Maintain project cost tracking tools and assist in monitoring performance against budgets.
  • Support efforts to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
  • Provide input on vendor payments and project change orders.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting budget variances; defers major financial decisions to the Project Manager.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (10%)
  • Facilitate effective communication between teams, including Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Finance, to align on deliverables and schedules.
  • Act as a liaison to address challenges and ensure all stakeholders are informed of project updates.
  • Resolves basic coordination issues independently; escalates interdepartmental conflicts as needed.
Leadership and Influence (5%)
  • Work closely with Associate Project Managers and other junior team members to provide mentorship and support.
  • Contribute to fostering a collaborative and solution-oriented team environment.
  • Assists in team coordination and communication; seeks input from senior staff for significant personnel matters

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction, ideally in renewable energy (Solar PV, BESS) or electrical projects.
  • Foundational understanding of energy systems, including solar PV and battery energy storage.
  • Competence in construction project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to identify and address technical and logistical challenges.
  • Experience handling competing priorities and maintaining flexibility in dynamic environments.
  • Capable of managing routine tasks with minimal supervision while recognizing when to escalate issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to support and mentor more junior team members.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Procore, MS Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, adhering to OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • 15-20% of time traveling.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and project cost management.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, NABCEP, or PMP.

Base Salary Range: $90,000- $105,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
