In addition, the director oversees all audit and inspection activities. This position leads and directs all personnel in the Quality Control Department. The director interacts with all levels of the organization and external vendors, customers, and auditors.
Essential Functions- Develop, implement, and support activities, policies, and procedures to ensure quality control and compliance
- Maintain the quality management system and promote the quality strategy
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, specifications, and customer contract requirements
- Identify, analyze, and formulate solutions to quality problems
- Maintain all internal quality related documents
- Review customer contracts and change requests to confirm that necessary adjustments are included in the quality and process plans
- Manage and improve existing Approved Supplier Matrix by monitoring supplier metrics to ensure the quality of outsourced products and services
- Perform root-cause analysis to identify quality risks and mitigate them through effective controls and process improvements
- Monitor scrap and rejected material data to determine areas of improvement and/or to communicate/train production staff on proper procedures to maximize performance
- Provide strategic direction, leadership, and training to the quality team and to production operators
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing Department personnel to ascertain the methods being used provide the best output
- Oversee and schedule calibration and testing programs
- Promote and support plant safety, cleanliness, and maintenance
- Possess technical capacity
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Ability to read blueprints, apply general shop mathematics, and identify out of tolerance conditions
- Ability to utilize precision measuring equipment
- Communicate effectively orally and written in English
- Strong attention to detail

- Proficiency with the Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year university in Engineering (Preferred)
- ASQ certification (Preferred)
- 7+ years’ experience in quality control
- 3+ years’ experience direct people management
- In-depth knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation
- ISO 9001, AS 9100, IATF 16949 experience (Preferred)
- Proficient with quality approaches/tools, PPAP, FMEA, APQP, SPC
- Expansive machining knowledge
The majority of this position is performed in an office environment. This position requires extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to the manufacturing floor which consists of fumes, chemical solvents or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, and vibration.
The noise level on the shop floor can be loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are up to 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, first shift position. This position performs work Monday – Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30 PM. Occasionally work will be required on Saturdays. Staffing needs and operational demands may necessitate variations in starting and ending times, as well as variations in the total hours that may be scheduled each day and week.
