Overview:
Ropes & Gray is seeking a Director of Integrated Marketing to lead digital and print communications for the firm and work closely with colleagues across the Marketing and Business Development department to plan and implement all marketing related initiatives across communication channels to improve brand awareness, promote events, and develop a more holistic project management view on marketing related reporting.
The Director of Integrated Marketing is responsible for developing and leading marketing initiatives across the firm. The director will work closely with the Director of Global Marketing and the broader Marketing and Business Development department to guide strategy and tactics and integrate various marketing functions to maximize the group’s effectiveness in building visibility, strengthening brand, implementing marketing technology, and communicating the firm’s culture.The successful applicant will be an expert in marketing best practices and successfully influence stakeholders to adopt strategic, multi-channel and impactful campaigns.
Responsibilities:
Integrated Marketing and Business/Client Development Plans:
- Support firm leaders in the development and execution of integrated marketing and business/client development plans that grow R&G’s share of wallet, increase R&G’s visibility, and align with top-line goals.
- Maintain holistic and up-to-date marketing plans by group and firm wide. Create and manage dashboards as it relates to campaign performance, delivery against service level agreements, and staffing in the firm’s project management system.
- Quarterback marketing campaigns to customize marketing tactics to stated business goals and communicate in terms of internal and external best practices by target audience and channel. Liaise with practice, group, industry, client, alumni and other colleagues to translate business objectives into measurable and multi-channel campaigns.
- Recommend appropriate marketing tactics to best fit the stated objectives – act as a thought partner to build the firm’s reputation and revenue.
- Oversee the execution of all marketing tactics (e.g., publications, emails, web pages, videos, social posts, etc.) and optimize campaigns based on performance.
- Ensure all marketing activities align with top-line goals and messaging.
- Connect themes and target audiences - coordinate campaigns across practice areas and other constituents.
- Identify marketing best practices and drive adoption.
- Monitor competitors in the market and share insights about their commercial efforts.
- Execute crisply – help colleagues meet or exceed industry benchmarks for every execution.
- Introduce new resources to raise department proficiency in marketing best practice and benchmarks.
- Regularly consult with the Director of Global Marketing on key initiatives and overall department operations.
- Work closely with office managing partners on marketing and branding initiatives in the firm’s key geographies.
- Track the department budget; provide regular updates to the finance team and marketing and business development leaders.
- Provide analyses of the firm’s position in the marketplace and audit marketing activities of the firm and peer firms.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and solve problems and challenges with broad impact across the department; provide thought leadership on projects beyond immediate area of responsibility, as appropriate.
Digital Marketing:
- Be strategic and operational leader for the firm’s CRM, website, email, analytics, and social advocacy systems and functions, creating a vision for the firm’s marketing technology stack, data strategy, and plan to deliver best-of-breed information, execution, and commercial support.
- Identify, onboard, deploy, and fully utilize systems, comprising both technology and processes, which will drive commercial behavior, better inform client interactions, improve the quality and performance of deliverables, and increase efficiency.
- Be the expert on firm systems, campaigns and performance by area and audience to drive on going improvement and team learning.
- Develop sound reporting practices to capture ROI on website traffic, email open rates, event ROI, and social media performance, etc. to inform future marketing initiatives.
- Fully utilize templates to reduce ad hoc customization, optimize budget and increase speed to market.
- Drive ongoing system improvements and team learning to optimize outcomes and respond to business needs.
- Demonstrate technical marketing and system expertise to anticipate challenges, identify gaps, and champion industry-leading experiences.
- Oversee governance and global compliance requirements.
Brand and Design:
- Design, manage, and drive ongoing improvements to the Ropes & Gray brand globally.
- Anticipate business needs and ensure sophisticated and precise executions across all marketing channels.
- Guide efficient repurposing of design templates and executions.
- Build, manage and grow create talent; selectively introduce partners that will fuel further innovation and growth within the organization.
- Be trusted advisor to colleagues and stakeholders about the brand look and feel.
- Partner across the marketing and business development organization to refine brand messaging and ensure design aligns with brand positioning.
- Identify, develop, and retain the next generation of leaders within the department.
- Drive innovation and adoption of new methods, best practice and, where needed, tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in the marketing field.
- Demonstrated leadership skills at a law firm or other professional services firm.
- Effective communicator across all levels of the firm.
- Proven track record for working effectively with teams of cross-functional experts.
- Passion for thinking creatively and solving problems.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Essential Capabilities:
- Marketing expert with demonstrated experience creating best-in-class marketing systems, campaigns, brands, and teams.
- Brand expertise with experience building and launching professional services brands in global markets.
- Data driven, with deep understanding of brand, digital, event, and other marketing metrics.
- Ability to distill and communicate key messages clearly and succinctly to firm leadership and other stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal affairs and client matters.
- Be a confident and engaged steward for the firm’s culture.

In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance.
The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
New York: $211,400 - $338,300
Working Conditions:
This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
