Overview:
East Penn Manufacturing, a world class leader in lead-acid battery manufacturing is looking for a Battery/DC Power Service Technician in the Des Moines, Iowa area for our Reserve Power Division. The Field Service Technician will work at one of our customer's local data centers maintaining and servicing the Stationary batteries used for their critical backup power systems.Requirements include a drivers license and good driving record, strong communication skills, and self motivation.
This position will pay between $25.00-$35.00 per hour.
Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and training.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance services on battery and DC power systems.
- Diagnose issues and perform emergency repairs on power ststems.
- Carry out services with minimal disruption to customers business.
- Compile maintenance reports, work orders, and essential site paperwork.
- Coordinate schedules with customer.
- Other duties as requested by management.
- Perform work unsupervised and remotely, when required.
- On-call emergency response.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience- High School diploma required.
- Technical degree or training preferred.
- Previous experience in technical field.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and standard office equipment.
- Battery knowledge preferred.
- Basic electrical knowledge and mechanical ability (AC/DC is a plus).
- Strong written and oral communication skills with technical background.
- Maintain a consistent and positive customer service image.
- Knowledge and experience working with both hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and understand specifications, detailed drawings and technical standards.
- Organizational skills, ability to multitask.
- Problem solving / analysis skills.
- Proficient with computer software, including internal systems and Microsoft office, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
