Overview:
The Psychologist II will maintain a clinical caseload including individual and family psychotherapy; diagnostic assessments; parent training; counseling in child development and behavior management. Administer and score psychological tests. This position will assist parents/caregivers in advocating for their children’s needs in the community.The incumbent will provide supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns and post-doctoral psychology fellows and/or psychology associates. Primary clinical responsibilities will be for individuals aged 5 years through young adulthood.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations, including diagnostic assessments, and psychological testing. Select appropriate measures, score assessments and tests, and interpret results in formulation for treatment planning and recommendations.
- Function as a therapist within the Center for Developmental Behavioral Health (DBH), providing high-quality competent care in individual, family, and group therapy formats. This may include behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, social skills training, psycho-education and crisis intervention, and other treatment modalities as appropriate to the needs of the patient.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with families and the members of the patient’s treatment team. Maintain communication with community professionals involved in the patient’s plan of care.
- Achieve billing standards by scheduling a sufficient number of patients weekly to account for noshows/cancellations, and contribute toward the overall therapist group flexibility in adjusting schedules to accommodate afternoon/early evening appointments.
- Assist in coordinating needed services and referrals for patients and families, including but not limited to residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, day treatment, in-home services, and school advocacy.
- Maintain up-to-date progress notes, treatment plans, diagnostic reports, and termination reports. Submit documents to the electronic health record accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with the Institute/program guidelines.
- Arrange coverage for supervision in accordance with discipline guidance when not present due to leave or education days.
- Participate in meeting with discipline mentor, discipline/program supervisor meetings, clinical trainings, and other activities to enhance and increase supervisory skills.
- Serve as a core supervisor for psychology trainees (e.g., externs, interns, and/or postdoctoral scholars) with emphasis on intervention for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, and/or the primary supervisor for one or more psychology associates.
- Complete written and verbal performance evaluations for psychology trainees and/or psychology associates required by their program of study.
- Complete administrative paperwork required/requested by the Kennedy Krieger/discipline/department.
- Attend and participate in program meetings, case conferences, team meetings, and any others related to direct patient care or the Institute/discipline/program operations.
- Maintain familiarity with Maryland state laws and the laws and ethical guidelines defined by one’s credentialing board with respect to patient confidentiality, conflicting interests, reporting of abuse, patient termination, and supervision of psychology associates.
- Contribute to the programmatic development and organization of the Integrated Behavioral Health (iBH) Clinic in collaboration with interdisciplinary clinic leadership and multidisciplinary leadership in DBH.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:- Must possess and maintain licensure as a psychologist in Maryland.
- Must obtain and maintain psychology privileges as a specified professional member of the Kennedy Krieger Institute Medical Staff.
- Doctoral degree in Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA)/Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)-accredited college or university is required.
- Completion of APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral internship is required.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with a population of children with intellectual/neurodevelopmental disabilities is required. This experience may be satisfied through postdoctoral fellowship or residency training in child clinical psychology.
Minimum pay range: USD $70,510.75/Yr.
Maximum pay range: USD $125,799.86/Yr.
