Half time Outpatient RN
Overview:
The outpatient RN works with the team to prepare and recover patients for surgery, minor and GI procedures, works in the GI suite during procedures, discharge teaching and patient education, transporting patients as needed, IV insertions, perform infusions and monitor patients throughout procedure.
- Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient.
- Provides nursing care with consideration of the age group served within the health care system.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment/supplies.
- Uses appropriate safety and infection control measures.
- Teaches/directs/advises/informs others in an appropriate professional manner.
- Reports/records information legibly and appropriately.
- Maintain annual unit specific mandatory competencies prior to expiration.
- Attends and completes required meetings, in-services and competency validation activities.
Responsibilities:
Physical:Able to access entire facility; lift and transport patients,supplies and equipment. Demonstrate smanual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability. Displays ability to stand for long periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, and
stooping during the majority of the work day. Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over lengthy periods of time.
Involves exposure to blood/bodyfluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases. Ensure a safe environmentby optimizing safety at all times.

ability to develop critical thinking skills. Maintains clinical and professional competency levels required of age-specific
populations. When not performing patient care,must be able to anticipate unit needs – including stocking supplies withinthe unit.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessaryto perform the essential functions of this position:
- Current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact
- Department specific certification requirements are listed below and must be achieved within the first year of employment and maintained on an annual basis.
