Shift: Day (4x10-hour shifts per week)

Job Description:

• The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is responsible for assisting the surgical team during operative procedures by preparing and organizing the operating room, ensuring the availability of sterile instruments, and providing assistance to the surgeon throughout the surgery. The CST plays a critical role in maintaining a sterile field, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are in place, and working collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and Maintenance of Sterile Field: Set up the operating room by preparing sterile instruments, drapes, sutures, and surgical tools as required for each procedure.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures during surgery. Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and respond accordingly.
• Ensure that all surgical equipment is properly sterilized and maintained in good working condition. Clean and sterilize instruments post-surgery.
• Adhere to all protocols related to infection control, patient positioning, and surgical safety, including assisting with counts of instruments, sponges, and other items to ensure nothing is left in the surgical site.
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure smooth surgical procedures and optimal patient care.
• Be prepared to assist in emergency surgeries and handle unexpected situations promptly and professionally.

Qualifications:

Certification:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.

Experience:

• Experience in a surgical setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of sterile techniques and operating room procedures.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
