Primary Purpose
The Vice President, Global Operations Strategy is responsible for optimizing commercial processes, developing a bespoke, differentiated win strategy for business opportunities, ensuring optimal knowledge transfer of strategy to operations post award.Additionally, global operations strategy will identify recruitment strategies and support operations in the implementation of those strategies post award working very closely with the Site and Patient Access group.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize and oversee the RFP to final proposal process
- Improve the proposal template to ensure all key areas are included
- Develop a vendor checklist to complete at the beginning of the bid process
- Provide checklist with assumptions to proposal manager to obtain quotes (i.e., central laboratory, EDC vendor, etc.)
- Lead group of biopharma proposal writers/managers. Identify and develop staff with CRO/biopharma experience to manage proposals.
- Lead the development of a differentiated win strategy for the proposal by working with subject matter experts and function leads to develop the approach for Emmes execution of the work
- Work with Site and Patient Access to review data and determine countries, if applicable
- Identify vendors needed
- Determine global staffing strategy
- Obtain input from SMEs as necessary for therapeutic area proposal input
- Collaborate across functional groups to assess and mitigate operational risks in the development of the clinical strategy and potential recruitment rates and overall timelines for scope of work
- Write clinical delivery content in the proposal (i.e., site strategy, operational challenges, lessons learned, best practices, staffing strategy, recruitment rates, monitoring strategy, timelines, competitive landscape, etc.) to deliver cohesive and compelling proposals to potential clients
- Develop site budget and investigator grant estimates when needed via Medidata Grants Manager
- Participate in bid defense meetings and/or coach staff for such meetings and assist with BDM strategy
- Work with marketing to optimize the BDM slides to include standard clinical delivery strategy
- Continue to identify systems/processes Emmes needs to grow capabilities and services to keep Emmes at the forefront of the changing landscape of the clinical research industry
- Optimize handover process upon award to clinical operations and other stakeholders
- Liaise with resourcing heads to identify staffing per the statement of work and within Sponsor timelines
- Develop and implement process for project kick-off
- Prepare clinical and project management team for launch of project activities
- Collaborate with the Emmes Site and Patient Access Department
- Provide input on the development site networks for Emmes’ largest therapeutic and research units
- Consult with designated site SMEs on bids (i.e., operational or recruitment challenges, site budgets, etc.) when needed
- Provide input on the development of network and relationships with patient advocacy groups and recruitment vendors
- Identifies, reviews, and tracks departmental Objectives and Key Results
- Provides mentorship and guidance and delivers effective performance reviews for all direct reports
- Contributes to cross-functional corporate initiatives
- Works to standardize biopharma activities
- Develop strategic relationships to improve Emmes access to sites and patients
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred, preferably in a scientific discipline
- Incumbent typically will possess at least 10 years progressive experience in clinical operations
- Previous experience with personnel management required
- Previous experience within various areas of clinical operations preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proven ability to meet critical deadlines
- Collaborative team member to all colleagues within Emmes
- Analytic aptitude
