Machinist

Responsibilities:

• Independently set-up and operate CNC-controlled lathes
• Select, clamp and align work-pieces and fixtures, tools, attachments and accessories for required machining.
• Set expansion-rate on finished hydraulic holders.
• Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, angle and depth of cut required for machining.
• Enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control data.
• Balance tools (grinding-wheels) required for OD-grinding.
• Start and observe machine-operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance-machining, and to adjust machine-controls or control-data as required.
• Understand functional application of hydraulic tool-holders.
• Communicate with supervisor or design-engineer about adjustments in dimensions and tolerances (if reasonable with quality requirements).
• Perform all scheduled maintenance-intervals on machine.
• Install some replacement-parts into machines, mechanisms and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
• Verify conformance of finished work-piece by checking specifications, cross-references counterparts of assembly (if available) and/or Mfg. order, signing off on manufacturing papers.
