Our client, a dynamic, well established manufacturing company in the Nashville, Tennessee area requires an Process Engineer with a strong manufacturing and production background. This individual will be responsible for heavy dump body fabrication processes, facilities monitoring, as well as equipment layouts, design, and assembly.

This position requires an exceptional knowledge of fabrication processes, including plasma cutting, forming, and welding sheet metal and structural steel and aluminum.

The selected candidate must be a self-starter, that is highly organized and focused daily. You will set goals and align them with the organization, while driving fabrication and manufacturing specifications, preparing detailed plans and layouts, and providing hands-on shop personnel support.

The Process Engineer will significantly contribute to the strategic development of this organization.

The individual selected must have demonstrated awareness of the management challenges interrelated to production, having made the manufacturing process possible through the smoothest, most-judicious, and the most-economical techniques at our disposal. Key skill sets include the following:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides proper training to workers to implement operating procedures, safety protocols, and avoid system malfunctions.
  • May assist with supervision of technicians/maintenance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Establish project timelines & deliverables, including cost benefit analysis, and communicates with key functional departments.
  • Maintain and program robotic welder.
  • Implement Lean Six Sigma principles into manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze product design and processes to recommend and implement improvements in design for manufacturability.
  • Develop specifications and calculates cost analysis for integrating new machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate with outside tool shops/vendors in the purchase or modification of tooling and equipment.
  • Assist in the day-to-day resolution of problems arising on the production floor. May include (but not limited to: safety, quality, and equipment challenges).
  • Utilize quality control tools and perform root cause analysis.
  • Prepare operating instructions and programs for equipment.
  • Oversee installation of machinery and equipment to ensure they function according to specifications.
  • Develop workflow plans and facility layout to ensure efficient movement of parts and materials.
  • Construct build packets for orders in the absence of the CE.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis/Failure Mode Effects Analysis as directed.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned by Senior Company Leaders and/or Company Ownership.

Baseline Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

One (1)+ year(s) of concentrated experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with common metal fabrication equipment and processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2)+ years experience as an industrial/process/mechanical engineer in a manufacturing environment.

Six Sigma certification.
