Human Resource Assistant

We are seeking a Human Resource Assistant to join our team in St. Paul, MN on a contract basis. The HR Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting our company’s HR functions by managing recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR policies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of HR best practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This role will contribute to creating a positive work culture and ensuring smooth HR operations across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand position requirements and provide guidance throughout the recruitment process.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding to ensure a seamless transition for new employees.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees, addressing inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and other HR-related topics.
  • Support and manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by addressing employee concerns in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other voluntary benefits.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Participate in compensation analysis and provide support with payroll-related inquiries.
  • Assist in the performance review process, including goal-setting, performance evaluations, and development planning.
  • Identify training needs and work with team members to provide development opportunities that support career growth.
  • Coordinate and track participation in training programs, maintaining compliance with mandatory trainings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an HR Generalist or similar role, with a solid understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, and recruiting processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems (experience with ADP, Workday, or similar platforms is a plus).
