Position Overview:**
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of our construction projects, including general accounting duties and payroll processing.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience in the construction industry, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
**Key Responsibilities:**- **General Accounting:**
- Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with budget preparation and project cost tracking.
- Monitor and track job costs, ensuring accuracy in billing and reporting.
- Process invoices, track payments, and assist with vendor management.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
- **Payroll Processing:**
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll for employees, including union and non-union workers.
- Verify timesheets, job codes, and deductions.
- Ensure accurate processing of benefits, bonuses, overtime, and vacation pay.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and assist in payroll-related audits.
- Prepare and file payroll taxes, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any payroll discrepancies.
- **Construction-Specific Tasks:**
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
- Track subcontractor payments and retainage.
- Assist with job costing and the preparation of billing invoices to clients.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs and revenue for ongoing construction projects.
- **Other Duties:**
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide support for other finance team members as needed.
- MUST HAVE Vista by Viewpoint experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, payroll processing, and construction accounting practices.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Procore, Sage 300, or similar) is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of payroll tax laws and compliance.
- Experience with construction job costing and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with union payroll and compliance.
