Phlebotomist
HCA Solutions is seeking qualified Phlebotomists for the Health Services Department at the Low Security Correctional Institution (LSCI) Allenwood, Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Allenwood, and/or United States Penitentiary (USP) Allenwood, in Allenwood, PA!
This is a W-2, full-time position for long-term placement.
Services will be scheduled between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a thirty-minute unpaid lunch period.
Description of Duties
Provide Phlebotomy Services in a method commensurate with the local community. These services, although not directly supervised, will be reviewed by a physician on staff at the facility.
The candidate will be responsible for the following:
Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates. This will include COVID screenings.
Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file/scan results in lab and medical record.
Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of 4 equipment and notification of needed supplies.
Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
Complete and scan into EMR the Medical Treatment Refusal forms for any inmate that wishes to refuse laboratory testing ordered by clinical staff
Requirements
Education and Experience
The candidate shall have valid certification/license to practice in the state of the facility as a Phlebotomist.The candidate must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
