Description:
Cardinal Newman School of Columbia, South Carolina is accepting applications for a dependable high school chemistry teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. Course levels will include college preparatory and honors classes. The chemistry teacher's responsibilities include instruction of Chemistry following the diocesan standards using three-dimensional instructional strategies, implementing laboratory experiences, developing rapport, and maintaining good relationships with colleagues, students and parents.
Outstanding candidates are able to apply scientific principles to real-life situations and can successfully teach students with different interests and aptitudes. New teacher orientation will take place in August, dates to be determined.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understanding the curriculum and developing long range plans, lesson plans, and

- Educating students on lab safety and ensuring all experiments are carried out
- Flexibility to teach multiple courses as student needs arise
- Incorporate weekly laboratory experiments relevant to the current lessons being
- Preparing appropriate and varied assessments that assess students both formatively
- Ensuring appropriate resources and consultation times are available to students.

- Maintain strict records of student attendance, participation, homework, lab work and

- Handling various administration functions, which include updating student records,
supplies, tools, and equipment.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related discipline, although a master's or above is
- Teaching certification is preferred.
- Knowledge of inquiry-based instruction is recommended.
- Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Strong multitasking skills.
